Because Bale had been injured, Conquest was Mac's first ride — he took Top Speed and low E.T., at the Perris Nationals in the Summer of 1968,  then lost in the final round (blew the blower belt). Don't ya just love his safety suit, pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a life jacket — no parachute.
