A Rare Photo of Mac Bale piloting Conquest, which seems to be running
on seven cylenders. He took Top Time and Low E.T. at the Perris
Nationals 1968. It was Mac's first dragboat racing experience. When the
other boat needed a restart, it was decided not to give Conquest the
single run for top honors. Instead of waiting for his tow boat, Mac
drove back to the pits. Dwight's 392 Hemi heated up; blew a blower
belt; and Mac lost the last round -- or he would have been National
Champian on his rookie outing. As Bale might say, "Would
a, could a, should a; if wishes were fishes, I'd fill up an ocean." I
guess that's just dragboat racing.
